BSD Data Summit

Earlier this week the School District of Baraboo held its first Data Summit for the year at Baraboo High School. Data-informed decision-making plays a critical role in the development and implementation of multi-leveled systems of support (MLSS) and the Continuous School Improvement Teams (CSIT) to ensure collaborative structures are in place to support collective responsibility in supporting students, who are at the center of all we do. 


CSITs from all seven BSD schools and the Baraboo Early Learning Cooperative 4K program kicked the day off with an activity to build effective communication as a group before they launched into reviewing our District Decision Making Framework and began developing building goals and action plans as part of their Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP). These plans will set the priorities and guide much of the work for the 2023-24 school year. Director of Secondary Teaching & Learning, Mrs. Sarah Eckert, said, “Staff appreciated the time and ability to come together as a district before they broke out by building to plan the next steps for their building.” She went on to say “You could hear and feel the excitement being built for the start of the year as Continuous School Improvement Teams worked to create action plans around their building goals.” 


The day started with a review of the new strategic plan and the Continuous School Improvement Team (CSIT) document. Building teams reviewed district-wide action plans along with student data so that each CSIT could create goals for the school year and action plans to reach the goals. Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning, Mr. Mike Pisani said, “After reviewing the strategic plan, district action plans, and student data, teams had great professional dialogue around how to increase student growth. The depth of the data analysis and the time to complete it was a great investment by the District, and staff on Continuous School Improvement Teams look forward to the next data summit to review universal screeners.”
